Welcome to Techno Club, the Christchurch Amateur Radio Club (CARC) electronics hobby program.
Started in 2008 as an electronics club for intermediate schools, the program provided students with a range of projects, and since 2010 has shared these with the CARC RadioTek program.
Techno Club continues as a program of events held at our radio clubrooms for students aged 9 to 109, helping them build and understand modern electronics with the aid of our experts. A student will start by learning soldering skills, then build a couple of simple projects on their first visit. On subsequent visits they can then expand their project features. In addition to building electronics, the student will be taught aspects of electronics and radio on each visit.
Techno club 1 – Practice soldering then build the wiggly wire game and first stage of emergency radio.
Techno club 2 – Build the FM receiver of the emergency radio.
Techno club 3 – Build the Solar charger and light display of the emergency radio.
Techno club 4 – Build the Rover 5 robot and learn programming.
The cost for each visit to Techno Club is $15 with snacks provided. Events are held approximately every 3 months. Plenty of car parking available. Any further queries you have please contact the club secretary at secretary@chchhamradio.org.nz

Wiggly wire steady-hand game.
An easy project for the first-time builder of electronics. Construction uses copper tape over printed guide sheet.

The student will finish with a usable, battery powered emergency radio that will always be ready.
Practice Morse key.
A simple morse code sounder and light.
The TechnoClub Rover 5 robot, using the programmable PicAxe Microcontroller.
Build electronics and learn the first steps of programming. Limited kits available for general sale.
The TechnoClub Rover 6 robot, using the programmable PicAxe microcontroller.
This has more advanced features than Rover 5.
