Another field day under the belt, I think this is my 25th! Our scores look good, and we should be up there with the leaders. Great to see such a good turn out, I counted nine members at one time, plus second harmonics. The field was made available to us by CCC, and we received special treatment as they mowed an area for our operations. The weather allowed āoutdoor opsā as seen the in photos.
We think the number of stations continues to decline, based on the total QSO count, but the quality of Morse sending was getting better over the years. Everything worked well, except the accidental disconnection of a mains power cord, killing the logging laptop. Pen and paper to the rescue! All was recovered and no harm done. It is a great way to practice HF phone communications, so letās hope we see you next year.
A special thanks to Wayne ZL2AYB and Richard ZL4FZ for the preparation work they put in.
Editors note: The midland trophy went to the ZL3AC team in 2018, beating out ZL3ARC and ZL2KS.
